Challenge #19

So, how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Good, I hope! How many of you cooked? This was my first year taking the cooking reigns from my Mom or one of my Aunts ... and I'm pleased to say that it was a success (well, except for the rolls ... we won't talk about the fact that we tried to make my Aunts famous rolls, only to fail miserably and send my Mom scurrying to the store for a package of them). Turkey was moist, potatoes were buttery and fluffy ... overall, I was EXHAUSTED but thrilled that I pulled it off! What about Black Friday shopping? Anyone brave enough to go out on Thanksgiving night? Friday morning sales? We made it as far as Home Depot to buy a $17 ladder and then retreated home to couch ... for a slice of pie and a nap. I did go out on Saturday afternoon and was SHOCKED at how few shoppers there were. The only line/chaos I encountered was at Michael's (hard to believe, I know!) ... all of the shoppers fighting to make sure they were in line in time to use their extra 20% off coupon ... most of them had scrapbooking stuff in tow, as well!

Here's the fantastic color palette we've got to work with this time:

THERE IS NO SPECIAL TWIST TO THIS CHALLENGE ... COLOR PALETTE ONLY!

Challenge #18

I have a huge OOPS to confess!!

I forgot to draw a random winner for the month of October.  The prize last month was a mystery bag of goodies.  I'm sending my deepest appologies!!  I guess it's better late than never.

The random winner from October is Tabitha.  She was the 2nd entry from Challenge #14.  Here is her winning LO:

Please send me an email at colormescrappy@gmail.com to claim you prize.  You have 1 week to contact me.  I'll draw another winner if I do not receive an email!

We've had a few comments saying that the challenges are coming too fast.  I'm curious to get everyone's thoughts on this.  Either shoot us an email with you thoughts at colormescrappy@gmail.com or leave a comment at the bottom of this post.
I just want to remind everyone that even though we have switched to weekly challenges, you still have 2 full weeks to complete each challenge.
Also, you do NOT have to complete every challenge to be eligible for our monthly prize!

Let's move onto the new challenge!
Look at these fabulous colors.  I was in awe of these.  I think they are fabulous.  They are a bit muted, but we like to give everyone a wide variety to work with.
Have fun!
In addition to the color combo, you need to ues a kraft background.  It can be plain or patterned.

Let's check out what the DT has come up with!

These women are all waiting for you to stop by and see their creations up close.  Be sure to drop by their blog to say hello!

Challenge #17

Ugh, it's that time of year that we all seem to hate ... once the clocks change I am totally unmotivated and just feel like curling up under a blanket and watching TV.  I don't know about you, but I'd MUCH prefer to have more light in the evening vs. the morning.

Ok, I'm done complaining about the time change now ... let's all move onto happier things ... how about the color palette for challenge #17?!

The twist for this challenge is to use staples on your layout.

So, Lisa and I spent last weekend at a crop and managed to knock out 20 pages each (we're both thrilled with that total!).  Each of us brought our laptops and in the process, we noticed how totally different each one displays the color combos!  WOW!  Even as I type this, my Mac displays them totally different from my Windows laptop ... at the crop, I totally saw that bottom color as a blue ... sitting here at my Mac, it's a purple-ish color ... so, do the best you can with what your monitor displays!

Let's talk prizes again:

Remember, this month we're happy to feature Paper Issues as our sponsor.

They've generously donated a $20 gift certificate for one lucky lady!

To have your name dropped in the prize hat you've got to complete 2 of the 4 challenges for the month of November. We'll drop your name in the hat twice for the first 2 and if you link up for challenges 3 and 4 we'll drop your name in 2 more times! So, if you play along for all 4 challenges in November, you'll get 4 chances to win!

Challenge #16

So, I'm sitting here trying to relax and get this post up, but it's hard to relax when I have sooo much to do.  My husband and I surprised our 2 boys with a trip to Disney World.  We just got back on Tuesday, so needless to say, the laundry is piled high.  We landed at the airport at 12:30 and then had to pick up our brand-new puppy at 4:00.  He flew in from Idaho.  I'm sure there will be pages and pages dedicated to this little guy!  So, I'm trying to get this new dog acclimated to his new home, but at the same time, I need to pack for a scrapbook weekend.  Yeah!  All I can say is that this little puppy likes to chew, so I can only pack my scrapbooking goodies when he is sleeping!

So, this is the 2nd challenge of our new format.

For this challenge we have to use the colors below

AND

the word "Enter"

Before we reveal the creations made by the CMS DT, let me say that they love to get comments on their creations as much as any other scrapbooker.  It gives encouragement and recognition to this group of woman who dedicate their time and energy to inspire you, our followers!
Please stop by their blogs and give them a bit of love.

Challenge #15

So, as I'm writing this post, all of the trick-or-treaters are out in full force ... however, none are coming to our door.  We moved out to the sticks this past year and we have very few houses near us.  Strange not to have the porch light on and have all of the little ghosts and goblins running up and down the street.  Quiet.  Extremely quiet.  There is one upside to this situation though:  no candy to tempt me!  I used to buy the stuff I loved ... knowing that there would be some left over for me to nibble on over the next few days ... ok, I usually bought myself my own bag of Mounds (don't judge me!)

Sooooo, anyway ... We're onto Challenge #15 and the debut of our 3 new Design Team Members!  Lisa and I very happy they accepted our offer!  Combined with our returning members, we think our Design Team rocks!  We hope you'll stop by and give them all some blog love ... after all, we all love to get comments on our work!

Here's the yummy fall palette they had to work with this time around:

To throw a twist in with it, this time around we're challenging you to work with this awesome sketch, created by our talented Design Team member, Christina Collins:

Here are the awesome pages that Team A came up with:

Let's discuss the prize for the month, shall we?!  For November we've got an a gift certificate from Paper Issues up for grab!

Stop on over to Paper Issues and check them out, be sure to tell them that Color Me Scrappy sent you!

You've got until November 14th at midnight EST to link your pages for this challenge ... we can't wait to see what you do with the palette and sketch!  Happy Scrappin!

Also, don't forget about our format changes!  We're excited to mix things up a bit and hope you are too!

Our first change is to go to weekly challenges with a twist.  They will be revealed each and every Thursday and will look like this:
  • color challenge + sketch
  • color challenge + "word"
  • color challenge + technique
  • color challenge + white, black or kraft BG
  • color challenge (for those months with 5 Thursdays)
Each challenge will be open for 2 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to get your LO in.
Our prizes will still be awarded monthly, but the more LOs you complete, the more times your name gets dropped in the hat, which obviously improves your chances to win!!  We are still prohibitive to having only US and Canadian winners due to the cost of shipping, but there is something coming for our international players as well...
We will have a "Top 3" each and every month.  This is voted on by our DT and the winners of this have the opportunity to come back as Guest Designers the following month.
