Challenge #14

This challenge reveal is bittersweet...

The bitter is saying good-bye to some our first DT members.  It has been a pure joy working with these talented women.  Each creation throughout every challenge has been full of inspiration.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

Inroduction

It seems as if we announced our latest DT call forever ago.  I'm happy to say that we've made our decisions, invites have been sent and acceptance from those have been received.

 

 

As I mentioned in an earlier post, changes to Color Me Scrappy are on the way.  All these changes will take place on:

 

November 1, 2012

 

Our first change is to go to weekly challenges with a twist.  They will be revealed each and every Thursday and will look like this:

• color challenge + sketch
• color challenge + "word"
• color challenge + technique
• color challenge + white, black or kraft BG
• color challenge (for those months with 5 Thursdays)

Each challenge will be open for 2 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to get your LO in.

 

Our prizes will still be awarded monthly, but the more LOs you complete, the more times your name gets dropped in the hat, which obviously improves your chances to win!!  We are still prohibitive to having only US and Canadian winners due to the cost of shipping, but there is something coming for our international players as well...

 

We will have a "Top 3" each and every month.  This is voted on by our DT and the winners of this have the opportunity to come back as Guest Designers the following month.

 I live on Long Island in NY, about an hour east of Manhattan. I have been scrapbooking since 1998 and I have been obsessed ever since. I love anything to do with paper and glue and all the little fun embellishments that go on a page. I also dabble in cardmaking, mixed media and art journaling and am always looking for ways to stretch my creative muscles.

 

 

 

Maria Blanco

 

I'm a musician, originally from Barcelona, Spain, and live with my boyfriend in Berlin, Germany. I've been bilingual almost all my life. I've started scrapping last year and I must admit it's become an addiction. Also, it's important for me to be creative in a visual way. I've found myself to be mostly scrapping by challenge. This is how I get most creative and how things happen and I really enjoy the creative process this way. I normally scrap layouts in 8,5x11 and the occasional minibook.

Hi fellow scrapbookers! My name is Sharon. I am a cardiology nurse by day and an enthusiastic scrapbooker by night! I started scrapbooking 9 years ago when my husband and I adopted our second daughter from China. I got interested in scrapbooking when I learned about "Lifebooks" and adoption, and haven't stopped since. I have enjoyed being on the Scrapping the Music design team for the past couple of years and have gotten a lot of inspiration from them! My oldest, "bio" daughter is 18, soon to be going to college. Time flies . . . My husband and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary this year.

Amazing Applications

Wow, ladies ... you knocked it out of the park with the design team applications!  I've just started going through them this evening and I can tell you, Lisa and I will have a VERY tough time narrowing it down!  I want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to apply ...  we're honored that you all want to be a part of our CMS family.

We're working hard to make our picks and hope to announce the new team members in the next day or 2 ... good luck to everyone who applied!

Challenge #13

Holy smokes!

It's October?  Halloween is right around the corner and I really need to start working on my kids costumes.  This may seem like a crazy question, but do other countries celebrate Halloween?  Or is it just in the U.S.?

The leaves are beginning to change colors here and that is the official start of Fall, at least in my eyes.  When I lived further south, the colors of the leaves were not so magnificent as they are in Michigan.  I can look out my back deck and see the colors change right in my back yard.  It is fabulous!  Fall truely is my favorite season.  What about you?  Do you have a favorite season?

This color combination really stuck me as Fall colors even though they don't have the oranges and reds that the traditional colors would.  Maybe it's the charred corn in the inspiration picture?

Be sure to check out the fabulous creations of our Design Team!  They probably have some detailed pictures of their work along with some interesting tips on how to recreate some great features.  This is our last month of our 1st term.  A lot of our DT members are returning, but a few we are saying good-bye to, so be sure to give them all some love!

Challenge #12

In case you missed out on the first challenge of September, we have another exciting and fun challenge that runs until the end of September.

Deadline is 11:59 PM EST on September 30, 2012.  That gives you 2 weeks and 2 days, which is plenty of time to play with these fun colors.

The weather is getting cooler (at least here in Michigan), but we were not quite ready to switch over to those fall colors, so we have a bright and cheery color combo for you.

 

Working with this color palette was a lot of fun.  It's time for you to have some fun with it!  I can't wait to see you creations.  This is the best part of the challenge.  I enjoy seeing all the different takes on the color inspiration.

DT Call

Well, it is that time!  I think our first term was a huge success.  We have over 125 followers so far, which I am totally geeked about.  Summer was a bit slow for participation, but I think that will increase with school being back in session.  I know that my productivity will increase dramatically.

Our first term is coming to an end and we will be on the hunt for new DT members.

I'm pleased to announce that some of our DT members will be staying on for another term, but we will be adding new members and dividing everyone into 2 teams.  Why, you ask?  Pam and I have decided to make some changes that will make us stand above the rest.

I'm happy to announce that we are going to weekly challenges!  Each challenge will be open for 2 weeks, so that they will overlap and give everyone plenty of time to participate.  They will be revealed each Thursday and will look something like this:

• Color Challenge + Sketch
• Color Challenge + "Word"
• Color Challenge + Technique
• Color Challenge + Black, White or Kraft BG (This will change each time)
• On those odd months were there are 5 Thursday's in a month, the last challenge will be a plain old Color Challenge.

As for the design team, you will be divided into 2 teams and will be responsible for a minimum of 2 challenges per month.  We will alternate when it comes to that 5th challenge.  As a DT member, you are also responsible for commenting on participant's LOs and voting for DT Favorite(s).  More details on that later...

Each challenge is sent to the DT at least a month in advance, so there is plenty of time to complete your layout and if you want, you can complete the challenge even if you are not assigned to it.

We've also decided to shorten the length of this term.  This term will run from November - February.

• Name
• blog address
• short bio that will be used on our website if chosen
• any other online gallery that shows your work
• Why you think you would be an asset to the team?
• attach a LO using the following color combo and sketch

Application deadline is Sunday, September 30, 2012.

The new team members will be contacted no later than October, 4, 2012.

Challenge #10 DT Fav

I love this part of each challenge.  I find it amazing how each member of the DT has a favorite and their way of picking it.  I really look for a LO that stands out above the rest.  Usually, my favorite is one that contains some unique technique that I just have to try out.
